Growing a Healthy Community

Problem:

I wanted to learn how to make a documentary, to add to my communications arsenal for mission-driven organizations.

Action:

  1. I successfully petitioned to take a summer class called Photo & Video Storytelling at the Georgetown School of Continuing Studies.

  2. Over the course of several months, I learned how to take pictures, film videos, record audio, and edit visual work.

  3. I partnered with the Arlington Food Assistance Center to interview stakeholders about food insecurity with sensitivity and respect, shadow volunteers, and capture visual and audio assets.

Result:

I created a short documentary, which I plan to help the Arlington Food Assistance Center leverage for philanthropy.

This project made me a partner to multimedia professionals and NGO clients.
